MFU Organises "International Scholarship Students Meet the President" Event

On 27 August 2026, the Global Relations Division hosted the “International Scholarship Students Meet the President” event at MFU for You, M-Square Building. Asst. Prof. Dr. Romyen Kosaikanont, Vice President presided over the event on behalf of the President, extending a warm welcome to the university’s new international scholarship students. 

The event was designed to integrate incoming scholarship recipients into Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), offering them a dedicated space to connect with university leadership, network with senior students, and build cross-cultural friendships across various schools and countries. Additionally, student representatives from each scholarship programme took this opportunity to deliver a message of appreciation to the university.

During the event, Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Head of the Global Relations Division highlighted MFU's strategic role within the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). Located at the heart of the GMS, MFU prioritises human resource development as a key driver of regional sustainability. The MFU Scholarship Programme equips high-potential international students with a quality education, empowering them to return home and drive meaningful progress. Beyond academic growth, the programme serves as a vital bridge to foster mutual understanding and strengthen international ties between Thailand and neighbouring nations.

Since 2005, MFU has supported 455 international scholarships students across various fields, producing 370 graduates to date. Currently, 85 scholars 20 countries including from Bhutan, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, Grenada, Indonesia, Kenya, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, the Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Timor-Leste, Uganda, and Vietnam- are currently pursuing their degrees. For the current academic year, MFU awarded 20 full and partial scholarships to students from Myanmar and Lao PDR (17 Bachelor's, 1 Master's, and 2 Doctoral candidates).

In her address, Asst. Prof. Dr. Romyen Kosaikanont encouraged students to champion an inclusive, globally minded campus by leading Global Citizenship initiatives— organising student-led activities, forums, and collaborative projects that bring together MFU students and staff. Thsse experiences, she noted, will deepen their understanding of diversity, develop meaningful connections, and help them gain the confidence and skills to become compassionate global citizens and ambassadors of friendship between global communities.
