Mae Fah Luang University would like to congratulate the Medical Plants Innovation Center of Mae Fah Luang University for being granted “the 2021 Distinguished Award for Thai Traditional Medicine under the Prince Krom Luang Wongsadhirajsanit Fund”. The award presentation ceremony was held online by the College of Public Health Sciences, Chulalongkorn University during the 21st International Conference of Public Health Sciences: Post COVID-19 Pandemic: Public Health Challenges and Solutions Towards Sustainable Health and Well-being on 4 October 2021.
His Royal Highness Krom Luang Wongsa Dhiraj Snid was one of the important persons in the revival on Thai traditional medicine. He was the author of textbook on 116 traditional Thai medicine formulas, which was the first herbal drug textbook of Thailand written as a technical document, with the description. Also, he was the first Thai physician to receive an honourary certificate from a European medical institute and was invited to be a member of the New York Medical Institute. In 2008, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) honoured the prince as a UNESCO world-ranked Great Personality (a scholar and poet) on the occasion of his 200th birthday anniversary.
The Medical Plants Innovation Center of Mae Fah Luang University was established to develop new standard for the quality, efficiency and safety in herbal raw materials and products aligning with international standards. The center not only provides analysis services and certification for herbal raw materials and products but also improve the market value of domestic herbal products and exports.
