On 29 September 2022, Mae Fah Luang University and the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) of the Ministry of Culture jointly organised the opening ceremony of the Art Exhibition: RE-ANTHROPOCENE at Mekong Basin Civilization Museum, Mae Fah Luang University.
In the opening ceremony, there were a report delivered by Ms. Suwimon Wimonkanchana, Director of the Center for Art Galleries, the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture; followed by a welcoming speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Luang University and the opening speech by Mr. Paskorn Boonyalug, Governor of Chiang Rai Province.
This exhibition showcased artworks of talented emerging artists who participated in the artist development programme of the fiscal year 2022 which was held from 27 – 29 September 2022. The artist development programme, supported by MFU and OCAC, was held as a part of the Thailand Biennale, Chiang Rai 2023 event to promote understanding of art and art studies. The programme brought together 35 students from universities across the nation to visit the popular places for art and cultural activities in Chiang Rai. In addition, all participants were trained and learned from Chiang Rai artists, then exhibited their artworks.
Furthermore, three Thai National Artists in Virtual Arts including Dr.Kamol Tassananchalee, Prof. Decha Warashoon, and Mr. Panya Vijinthanasarn participated in the programme and were the final round judges for the art competition. Among participants of the programme, the winner of the competition was Ms. Aranya Yodsri. While Mr. Pipat Chantip and Ms. Kanokploy Saenthaweesuk won the first runner-up award and the second runner-up award respectively.
