MFU Executives Join the 16th Annual Review Meeting of the Asian International Mobility for Student (AIMS) Programme

     On 2 – 3 November 2022, delegates of Mae Fah Luang University which were Asst. Prof. Dr.Chutamat Niwat, Assistant to the President and Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Acting Head of Global Relations Division participated in the 16th Annual Review Meeting of the Asian International Mobility for Student (AIMS) Programme in Korea.

     The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE), and co-organised by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED). This Annual Review Meeting brought together over 160 government and university representatives, international relations offices, students, and alumni from nine countries to share country’s updates on the developments of the Programme and exchange perspectives on future directions, new challenges, and possible solutions which would maximize the regional mobility programme of AIMS. Moreover, the AIMS stakeholders had closer discussions and deepened collaboration with partners to match the needs of the learners and support the progress of common space of higher education for the sustainable development of the region.

     In addition, all participants visited Yonsei University, Mirae campus to learn more about University Social Responsibility (USR) cases. Yonsei University has been named Korea’s most reputable university for social responsibility as it plays a leading role in the local and international volunteer work, serving its community and the world. The university encourages students to explore local problems and needs, collect data and conduct interdisciplinary research, then propose solutions or develop innovations to solve the problem.

      To promote the development of global citizens and contribute to the sustainable development in the Asian region, AIMS students will have the opportunity to participate in USR activities (volunteerism) during their exchange that help them gain real experiences outside the classroom, understand the local context and challenges, and be involved in alleviating the problems.
