MFU & CRRU Co-Host Researcher Exchange Programme on Climate Change

     On 14 - 17 November 2022, Mae Fah Luang University and Chiang Rai Rajabhat University co-hosted the Researcher Exchange Programme for Horizon Southeast Asia: Pushing the Frontiers of Research and Sustainability: Thematic Area 1 on Climate Change.

    The programme brought together participants from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam to discuss and exchange ideas and good practices with MFU and CRRU researchers.

    The opening ceremony was held on 14 November 2022 at MFU Co-working Space with the warm welcome speech from Professor Dr.Sujitra Wongkasemjit, Vice President of Mae Fah Lung and Dr.Natthaphon Santhi, Assistant to the President of Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, followed by an opening remark by Asst. Prof. Dr.Romyen Kosaikanont, Centre Director of SEAMEO RIHED. In addition, there were a presentation on international student scholarship by Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Acting Head of Global Relations Division and presentations on climate change research by Asst. Prof. Dr.Rawiwan Charoensup, Head of Medicinal Plant innovation Center of Mae Fah Laung University; Dr.Piyaporn Chueamchaitrakan, Head of Tea and Coffee Institute; and Asst. Prof. Dr.Apisom Intralawan, a lecturer of the School of Management.

     The Researcher Exchange Programme on Climate Change is a part of Project Horizon Southeast Asia: Pushing the Frontiers of Research & Sustainability funded by the SDGs-Partnership programme (2022-2025), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Moreover, this programme has been co-developed and co-implemented by Svay Rieng University, Cambodia; the National University of Laos, Lao PDR; East Yangon University, Myanmar; Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand; Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa'e, Timor-Leste; Thuyloi University, Vietnam; the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED). It aims to strengthen the research governance structures of participating HEIs in the GMS and Timor Leste and to foster joint-research collaboration through the development of new research programmes and projects in thematic areas concerning Sustainable Development.

    Overall, this programme indicates the strong efforts of MFU on strengthening regional research ecosystems and maximizing the contributions of higher education to sustainable development of the region.
