MFU President Welcomes Participants of Erasmus+ DigiHealth-Asia

      On 16 January 2023, Mae Fah Luang University executives led by Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Luang University welcomed participants of the Capacity Building for Digital Health Monitoring and Care Systems in Asia project (DigiHealth-Asia) led by Prof. Dr.Ingrid Moerman and Dr.Adnan Shahid, Erasmus+ Project Coordinator from Ghent University, Belgium at Doi Tung room, Mae Fah Luang University. 

      Mae Fah Luang University executives included Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nantana Gajaseni, Vice President; Asst. Prof. Dr.Chutamat Niwat, Assistant to the President, Asst. Prof. Do.Teeravisit Laohapensaeng, Dean of the School of Information Technology; Sulukkana Noiprasert, MD., Dean of the School of Integrative Medicine; Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Acting Head of the Global Relations Division, and lecturers.

     DigiHealth-Asia aims to build capacity in Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) of the partner countries (Pakistan, Thailand and Mongolia) to develop project-based courses in digital health and that would begin a new transformation in the operation of Asian healthcare systems. The Erasmus+ DigiHealth-Asia Project in Thailand was arranged from 16 – 20 January 2023 at Mae Fah Luang University and Chiang Mai University to discuss the ongoing overall process and each partner country updated the progress of their pilot cases.  There were scholars and researchers from 10 universities of DigiHealth-Asia Consortium including Ghent University, Belgium; Université Lumière Lyon 2, France; Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, Mongolia; National University of Mongolia, Mongolia; Capital University of Technology, Pakistan; National University of Science and Technology, Pakistan; Chiang Mai University, Thailand; Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand; University of Northumbria at Newcastle, UK; and University of Huddersfield, UK. 

     During 16 – 17 January 2023, the participants visited the School of Information Technology, the School of Integrative Medicine, the Institute of Thai-Chinese Traditional Medicine Hospital for a pilot case 2 monitoring system prototype demonstration, and the Mekong Basin Civilization Museum.

     Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, MFU President stated that this project supported by the European Union has offered valuable working experience to lecturers and students of the consortium. The university will strengthen collaborations and promote various academic activities covering an exchange of lecturers and students, joint research, publication and designing new programme of study in order to ensure the sustainable and fruitful cooperation between MFU and the consortium. She added that the university hopes to strengthen relationships and build staff’s digital technology competencies which will contribute to the development of digital technologies for healthcare system, interdisciplinary research and innovation, as well as socio-economic growth.
