MFU President Attends the 2024 ASEAN-Australia CEO Forum in Australia

On 4 - 6 March 2024, Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University and Asst. Prof. Dr.Nathapornpan Uttama, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University attended the 2024 ASEAN-Australia CEO Forum which was a part of 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne, Australia. 

The 2024 Special Summit was held to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations and further enhance cooperation under the ASEAN–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It aimed at being a stage for leaders from government and private sectors from ASEAN Member States and Australia to share their visions and discuss approaches to strengthen practical cooperation between ASEAN and Australia from deepening ties between people and economies, to boosting cooperation on education, and environmental issues.

Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, MFU President participated in the 2024 ASEAN-Australia CEO Forum which highlighted research collaboration and education partnerships between ASEAN countries and Australia in order to underpin and build regional resilience in a challenging geopolitical environment. The forum brought together over 100 Australian and ASEAN CEOs and business leaders. In addition, the meeting was held in the format of CEO Roundtables in six areas: 1. Agriculture and food supply chains, 2. Digital economy, 3. Education and skills, 4. Green energy transition, 5. Financial services, and 6. Infrastructure, connectivity, and resources.

Furthermore, Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn was invited to co-chair the CEO Education and Skills Roundtable alongside Professor Alec Cameron, Vice-Chancellor and President of RMIT University. The discussion reflected that the private sector still needs the education sector to produce capable human resources in the fields of health sciences, nursing, and engineering, which are considered important forces for driving business and the economy. Additionally, the private sector emphasises the development of skills for the future-ready workforce, focusing on adaptability and self-learning abilities. Moreover, during the meeting, the operation of Australia's research grant to ASEAN countries was mentioned as a crucial part that will deepen the relationship between Australia and ASEAN countries. And, currently, Australia places great importance on the development of energy and environment.

All in all, MFU always prioritizes cultivating impactful educational collaborations worldwide to develop a skilled workforce and promote the well-being and sustainable future of people in the region.
