On 27 August 2024, the School of Integrative Medicine organised the farewell ceremony for 37 exchange students from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CDUTCM) at Pradoo Daeng 1 Room, E4 Building.

These students participated in a three-month short-term training programme in the Applied Thai Traditional Medicine at the School of Integrative Medicine since June 2024. They gained firsthand experience and insights into integrative medicine, applied Thai traditional medicine, Thai massages, Thai language class, and cultural activities.

During the farewell ceremony, Sulukkana Noiprasert, MD., Dean of the School of Integrative Medicine, emphasised that all students had become significant parts of the MFU community, sharing unique perspectives within classes and actively engaging in cultural exchange activities throughout the three months. She added that she hoped the experiences and great memories gained from this programme would benefit the students’ studies and future lives.

This exchange programme not only strengthened partnerships between Mae Fah Luang University and Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine but also deepened relationships between Thailand and China, leading to growing and strong ties in the following years.

The ceremony featured presentations of certificates and souvenirs to CDUTCM students and lecturers, presentations of work and experience sharing from students, exchange of ideas and recommendations for improvement, and cultural performances.

Mae Fah Luang University and Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under this agreement, MFU students also had opportunities to participate in a two-month course at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, allowing them to learn traditional Chinese medicine and immerge themselves to Chinese language and culture.

The exchange programme promoted academic learning, and developed essential skills such as cross-cultural communication, multicultural understanding, international networking, and resilience skills. Additionally, the programme promoted a positive image of Chiang Rai province as a destination of education and medicine, fostering local economic development. All in all, Mae Fah Luang University is committed to consistently enhancing global collaboration to prepare students to become quality graduates, ready to meet challenges and engage in the advancement of the international medical and public health industry.
