On 27 August 2024, the Global Relations Division held the International Scholarship Students Meet the President Event at M for U, M-Square Building. The event brought together Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University, staff members, and current and new scholarship students. The event provided a valuable opportunity for scholarship students to meet the President and socialize with friends from other schools and countries.
In 2024, MFU celebrated its 19th year of awarding scholarships to international students. Since 2005, the MFU Scholarships for International Students programme has supported a total of 373 students in various fields of study. Of these, 297 students have successfully graduated, while 76 students are currently enrolled at the university.
This academic year, MFU awarded 15 scholarships to international students from Indonesia, Kenya, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Vietnam. The recipients included 7 bachelor’s degree students, 7 master’s degree students, and 1 doctoral degree student.
In her speech, the MFU President encouraged students to approach their studies with diligence and determination, share their perspectives, learn from others, and immerge themselves in new languages and cultures during their time at the university. Scholarship students from Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Vietnam also shared their thoughts and gratitude towards the scholarship opportunities they received.
The primary purpose of the MFU scholarship programme is to encourage international students with strong academic backgrounds to excel in their fields of study at Mae Fah Luang University. Additionally, the scholarships aim to foster international relationships, strengthen friendship and understanding between Thailand and neighbouring countries, and contribute to regional and global sustainable development through the development of human resources.
