MFU’s Future Scientists Light Up the Stage at STT50

Mae Fah Luang University would like to congratulate students from the School of Science for receiving Young Rising Star of Science Award 2024 at the 50th International Congress on Science, Technology and Technology-based Innovation (STT50). The event was co-hosted by the Science Society of Thailand, under the Patronage of His Majesty the King, and the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, from 25 - 27 November 2024, at the Empress Hotel, Chiang Mai.

The students who received awards were as follows:
Silver Prize:
- Mr. Kaung Htet Aung, a Materials Engineering student, received the prize  with his research titled: "Applied statistics and machine learning approaches to predict compressive strength of geopolymer paste". His advisor is Asst. Prof. Suthee Wattanasiriwech.
- Miss Maneechat Butdachai, a Biotechnology student, received the prize with her research titled:  "Efficacy of Coffee Pectin in Inhibiting Streptococcus mutans Biofilm Formation". Her advisors are Asst. Prof. Dr. Sunita Chamyuang (main advisor) and Dr. Anupong Makeudom (co-advisor from the School of Dentistry). 

Bronze Prize:
- Miss Sutarat Nitdanklang, a Biotechnology student, received the prize with her research titled:  "Development of a bio fertilizer prototype from endophyte fungal to enhancing crop productivity" Her advisor is Asst. Prof. Dr.Siraprapa Mahanil.
- Miss Kritsana Khunsriruksa, a Biotechnology student, received the prize with her research titled Investigating of Anti-oral cancer properties of Cordyceps militaris" Her advisors are Asst. Prof. Dr. Sunita Chamyuang (main advisor) and Dr. Anupong Makeudom (co-advisor from the School of Dentistry).

The Young Rising Star of Science Award is awarded to young researchers with potential and outstanding research projects. It is selected from outstanding senior projects of final-year Bachelor of Science programme students and related programmes from universities across Thailand. 

This annual scientific meeting was held under the theme "Science x Creativity: Crafting the World", with more than 1,000 participants from 20 countries worldwide. The event featured special lectures by leading scientists, as well as more than 200 oral presentations and 300 poster presentations in various fields, such as physics, biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics, energy and the environment, and food and agricultural sciences.
