Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), led by Professor Dr. Sujitra Wongkasemjit, Vice President, along with university executives, lecturers, and staff, participated in the 2nd North-South University Network (NSU NET) meeting under the theme “Growing Together: From Regional Strengths to a Sustainable Global Future.” The event took place from 19 to 21 June 2025 at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, Songkhla Province, and brought together representatives from more than 14 institutions in the North-South university network.
This meeting served as a key platform for fostering collaboration between universities in the northern and southern regions of Thailand. The aim is to elevate the quality of Thai higher education to effectively address both national and global challenges in a sustainable manner. A shared goal among the participants is to create a “collaborative learning space” that respects the unique context of each region while promoting knowledge exchange, best practices, and the development of meaningful and practical cooperative frameworks.
The event featured a keynote address on the topic: “Thai Higher Education in a Global Context: Strategic Successes and Interregional Synergy for Sustainable Development” delivered by Professor Anek Laothamatas, former Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
In addition, the panel discussion titled “Growing Together: From Regional Strengths to a Sustainable Global Future” engaged the following speakers:

• Professor Dr. Peerapong Teekasakul, Director, the Air Pollution and Health Effect Research Institute, Prince of Songkla University
• Associate Professor Dr. Wichitpan Rongwong, Acting Director, Research and Innovation Institute of Excellence, Walailak University
• Assistant Professor Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, Prince of Songkla University
• Moderator: Associate Professor Dr. Janya Chanchai-Chujit, Assistant to the President for Promotion of Foreign Affairs, Prince of Songkla University
Moreover, there were breakout sessions to discuss strategies for enhancing cooperation in three main areas: Education, Research, and Internationalisation. These sessions encouraged knowledge sharing and the presentation of joint proposals among network universities.
Mae Fah Luang University's active participation in this event demonstrates its strong commitment to contributing to the development of the national higher education system. This is achieved through academic excellence, research advancement, international partnerships, and collaborative learning between regional institutions.
