On 10 – 16 October 2025, a delegation from Mae Fah Luang University visited Indonesia to participate in an education fair and meet with representatives from Indonesian universities for academic cooperation. The delegation included Dr. Piyatida Pianluprasidh, Dean of the School of Management; Dr. Sirirung Wongsakul, lecturer from the School of Agro-Industry; and Ms. Piraya Buddhasri, Administrative Officer from the Global Relations Division.

MFU representatives participated in the “Talk Global Study Fair,” organised by BMI in collaboration with the Times Higher Education at Pullman Jakarta Central Park. The fair aimed to connect prospective Indonesian students with universities worldwide. MFU representatives promoted information about the university’s study programmes, admission requirements, tuition fees, facilities, scholarship opportunities, career opportunities, and exchange programmes. This assistance helped participants find the right choice for their education and future careers.

Over 20 universities and educational institutions from Germany, Hongkong, Indonesia, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand, Türkiye, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam participated in the fair. The fair also served as a valuable platform for the MFU delegation to meet with Indonesian alumni.

The MFU delegation also visited several Indonesian universities to establish new partnerships and explore possible areas for academic cooperation. The delegation first visited Petra Christian University (PCU) in Surabaya and met with representatives from the School of Business and Management, the Food Technology Department of the Faculty of Industrial Technology, and the International Office. The PCU team was led by Mr. Vido Iskandar, Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Corporate Communication of School of Business and Management. Both universities agreed to begin collaborative activities with staff and student exchange programmes, as well as co-teaching in courses related to food technology, cosmetic sciences, tea and coffee, natural products, medicinal plants, and business.

MFU representatives also visited BINUS University (Anggrek Campus) to meet with Ms. Debby Sonita Lubis, International Office Manager, and Ms. Lidya, Program and Collaboration Section Head for Asia region, and toured the university’s facilities. The possibilities for cooperation between the two universities include internships, student exchange programmes, and international conferences.

In addition, the delegation visited Universitas Brawijaya (UB) in Malang to strengthen relations and further cooperation in the field of business management. The delegation met representatives from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, and the International Office, led by Prof. Dr. Ir.Imam Santoso, MP., Vice Rector of Academic Affairs.

MFU and UB have maintained an active Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) since 2019, which has contributed to collaborative activities through student exchange programme, visiting scholar programme, joint research, and conferences, particularly with MFU’s School of Agro-Industry and School of Science.

The two institutions are currently developing a joint certification programme in food science and technology as the next step in their partnership. Additionally, the visit opened discussions for potential collaboration between MFU’s School of Management and UB’s Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, in areas such as student mobility (physical and virtual), visiting scholar programmes, research, and joint degree programmes.

Altogether, the visit to Indonesia provided valuable opportunities for MFU to promote itself as an academic destination for Indonesian students. The interaction with prospective students and parents provided valuable insights into the university's programmes, facilities, and student life. It also served to build new cooperation and deepen existing collaborations with partner universities, ultimately fostering opportunities for students and academic staff from both countries to advance research excellence and broaden academic knowledge.
