On 29 January 2026, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), led by Professor Dr. Vanchai Sirichana, Chairman of the University Council, together with members of the University Council, the President, Vice President, and Dean of the School of Sinology, paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Mr. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand, at the Embassy in Bangkok.
During the meeting, both sides discussed expanding cooperation in key fields shaping the future of the region, including artificial intelligence (AI), science, technology, and medicine. Discussions also covered the development of Thai–Chinese youth ambassador networks, as well as the linkage of knowledge in economics, trade, and business opportunities to support industrial growth and regional investment. H.E. Mr. Zhang Jianwei provided guidance and expressed his support for advancing collaborative initiatives toward tangible outcomes, in line with the rapidly changing global context.
Professor Dr. Vanchai Sirichana highlighted the role of Mae Fah Luang University as a higher education institution located in Thailand’s strategic northern gateway, with strong connections to the Greater Mekong Subregion. MFU serves as a bridge for cooperation between the Thai and Chinese peoples, with a focus on developing the next generation of human resources, promoting student and staff exchanges, and advancing projects in language, culture, and science for sustainable development.
This visit reflects the close and longstanding relationship between Mae Fah Luang University and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand. The collaboration has continued for many years, beginning with the establishment of the Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center. Mae Fah Luang University remains committed to advancing concrete educational cooperation in support of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Thailand and China.
