MFU and CRRU Exchange Best Practices to Enhance Internationalisation and Student Support

On 9 February 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr.Romyen Kosaikanont, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University, and Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Head of Global Relations Division, led the Global Relations Division team on a visit to Chiang Rai Rajabhat University to exchange best practices and operational approaches in managing international affairs and international students.

The MFU delegation met with Asst. Prof. Dr. Sahattaya Sittivised, Vice President, along with executives and staff of the International Student Education Management Center (ISEM). During the meeting, both universities discussed several key aspects, including approaches to the recruitment and support of international students (particularly Chinese students), the integration of language and multicultural activities within the university, student mobility programmes especially exchange programmes or short courses, and academic programme management to promote internationalisation.

In addition, the MFU delegation visited the Language Institute and Global Affairs (LIGA) and met with Dr.Natthaphon Santhi, Assistant to the President of Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, together with administrators, faculty members, and staff. The discussion focused on sharing strategies and operational practices in managing international affairs, particukarly in the following key areas:
1. Integrating international affairs with local development in lignment with the university’s identity and core mission of serving society.
2. International student management systems, covering the admission process, student support services, and student welfare.
3. Academic programme management, particularly the development of short-course training programmes to meet the needs of international learners.
4. Academic cooperation, including building collaborative networks with overseas institutions.

On this occasion, Mae Fah Luang University proposed ideas for developing joint, activity-based collaborations for international students between the two institutions. The initiative aims to create shared learning spaces, encourage the exchange of experiences, and strengthen networks among international students at both universities.

This study visit marked a positive step in strengthening the relationship between the two leading higher education institutions in Chiang Rai Province. The insights and ideas exchanged will be further developed to enhance institutional systems, advance internationalisation, and simultaneously strengthen local communities in a sustainable manner.
