On 19 October 2020, the President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri and the Director General of Land Development Department, Ms. Benjaporn Chakranon signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for promoting sustainable utilization of land use.
The Land Development Department (LDD) under Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives is the main organization in Thailand responsible for soil survey and soil mapping, land improvement and land use planning. Moreover, the LDD has recognised that Mae Fah Luang University is the leading university that provides academic services, conducts research and establishes international collaboration in the fields of agro-industry and science.
The five-year agreement, therefore, was aimed at encouraging cooperation in the fields of education, information exchange and research. It is hoped that this MoU will enhance the land-use studies and establish collaboration networks with private sector and community in land management as well as reduction of agricultural chemical usage. The agreement will also promotes the application of research outcomes to agricultural innovations and products that will make a valuable contribution to the nation’s sustainable utilization of natural resources.
