Mae Fah Luang University was ranked in the top three Thailand’s top-ranked institution in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021, released on 9 March 2021.
This year, out of 606 universities from 48 territories (17 of which were Thai higher education institutions), Mae Fah Luang University was ranked in the 201-250 group in the world and ranked 3rd in Thailand after Mahidol University (80th) and Chulalongkorn University (131th).
MFU scored highly in the research citation (ranked 87th in the world) and international outlook (ranked 90th in the world) categories. The rankings use the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings to judge institutions on Teaching (the learning environment) 30%; Research (volume, income and reputation) 30%; Citations (research influence) 20%; International outlook (staff, students and research) 10%; and Industry Income (knowledge transfer) 10%.
However, the performance indicators are carefully recalibrated to reflect the development priorities of universities in emerging economies (countries classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as “advanced emerging”, “secondary emerging” or “frontier.”)
MFU will make all the necessary effort to maintain its national academic leadership status and to make our institution a world class university that serves society with high-quality research, teaching and internationalized activities.
