Cohort Ward Management at MFU Medical Centre Hospital

     The MFU Medical Centre Hospital has offered 200 cohort ward beds on the 8th and 9th floor for COVID-19 patients in Chiang Rai province. 

     The President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri said that the University has strong determination to cooperate with the Chiang Rai Provincial Public Health Office and Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital in establishing the preparedness of the MFU Medical Centre Hospital for COVID-19 patients and provision of facilities, healthcare personnel, and  medical supplies and equipment.  The University has fully prepared medical devices, medical supplies and setting up 200 cohort ward beds on the 8th and 9th floor of the MFU Medical Centre Hospital for COVID-19 patients. This preparation aims to respond to a shortage of hospital beds for Covid-19 patients in Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital due to an increasing number of COVID-19 cases and to align with the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Ministry’s policy urging 37 universities and institutes under its supervision nationwide to be field hospitals and quarantine facilities. 

     The cohort wards are divided into four wards, each with 50 beds and separating females and males. Also, there are several zones per ward, each with 7-8 beds with separate toilets/bathrooms. In addition, the MFU Medical Centre Hospital received the first COVID-19 patient on 18 April 2021. The infection prevention and control measures has been strictly implemented to ensure the safety of patients/individuals, medical staff and visitors in the MFU Medical Centre Hospital.
