MFU Hands Over the Dust-Free Child Development Centre Project

     On 28 June 2021, MFU delegates led by Asst. Prof. Dr.Panate Manomaivibool, the Assistant to the President and Acting Head of Study, Research and Operation to Reduce Forest Fires and Haze Problems in Thailand and the Region  Centre; Asst. Prof. Dr.Siam Popluechai, the Director of Scientific and Technological Instruments Centre; and Dr.Surapol Vorapatratorn, a lecturer from the School of Information Technology attended the opening and handover ceremony of the Dust-Free Child Development Centre to Thasud Subdistrict Municipality led by Mr. Somsak Sriburi, Mayor of the Thasud Subdistrict Municipality.

     A team from the Scientific and Technological Instruments Centre, MFU has implemented dust-free room for preschool-age children of the Child Development Centre in Thasud Subdistrict with an aim to transfer knowledge on how to make air DIY efficient filter to the community. MFU had handed over air filter in May 2020 and later closed the vents and installed air purifier, air ventilation and air quality monitor in March- June 2021 to effectively keep the room dust free. MFU also provided the community with posters that inform the public about PM 2.5, health effects of PM 2.5 and how to protect themselves from PM 2.5.

     On the whole, this project is initiated to help reduce exposure to PM2.5, smoke and dust that cause both short-term and long-term health effects specially for preschool-age children. Also, this project is expected to be a model for other organisations or communities to learn how to handle the air pollution problem.
