The Cooperation for Empowering the Persons with Disabilities

     On 16 August 2021, the President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri recorded a video for the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for empowering the persons with disabilities between the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, educational institutions and related organistaions.

     The cooperation aimed at collecting and disseminating research, innovation and assistive technology for persons with disabilities, knowledge of social protection; and universal design. The MoU signing ceremony is a part of the online 13th National Conference on Persons with Disabilities which will be held on 10 September 2021 to build an academic network for the development of the quality of life of persons with disabilities. This MoU will remain in effect for a period of three (3) years from the date of signature.

     MFU has always welcomed applications from students with disabilities. The university established the Disability Support Services (DSS) affiliated with the Student Development Affairs Division to give advices, assist and support students with disabilities to equivalent access all university’s services, facilities and academic resources.

     Furthermore, the terms of reference for this collaboration are:

1. To integrate and cooperate with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for strategy and policy development in order to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities;

2. To study, disseminate knowledge and research, and develop innovation, invention, assistive technology, digital technology and other technologies complying with universal design to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities;

3. To develop teaching and learning approach of study programmes related to quality of life development, capacity building and protection of rights of persons with disabilities to cover all aspects of disability and to promote accessible and inclusive environments particularly public areas, technologies and other services that contribute to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities;

4. To be a host for the National Conference on Persons with Disabilities; and

5. To cooperate in other areas necessary and beneficial to the promotion and development of the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
