MHESI Minister Observes MFU’s Production Processes of Green Chiretta Capsules

     On 24 October 2021, the President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri and the Chairman of the University Council, Adj. Prof. Dr.Vanchai Sirichana welcomed the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Adj. Prof. Dr.Anek LaoThammatat and the Permanent Secretary of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr.Sirirurg Songsivilai, M.D. to the MFU Herbal Medicine Laboratory for observing production processes of green chiretta capsules (Andrographis paniculata) used for COVID-19 Patients with mild symptoms.

     Later, the delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation visited the Medicinal Plant Innovation Center of Mae Fah Luang University and the Institute of Thai-Chinese Traditional Medicine, Mae Fah Luang University Hospital to inspect the products that integrate modern technologies and innovations with local wisdom. Such products have been implemented in accordance with the Northern Economic Corridor: NEC – Creative LANNA scheme and Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green Economic (BCG) Model. 

     Moreover, the Minister visited the MFU Medical Centre Hospital to observe the cohort ward for COVID-19 patients located on the 8th and 9th floor of the MFU Medical Centre Hospital and give encouragement to physicians and health care staff. 

     All in all, Mae Fah Luang University has played a significant role in supporting research on Thai traditional medicine, increasing the value of Thai herbal products with innovations and expanding them to the world market. The university also has the strong intention to integrate alternative and conventional medicine to provide the best healthcare services for people in Thailand and the region.
