MFU Ranked 7th as Green and Sustainable University in Thailand

     With a total score of 7700, Mae Fah Luang University was ranked as the 113th green university out of 956 universities worldwide and the 7th out of 39 Thai universities in the University of Indonesia’s GreenMetric World University Ranking 2021, released on 14 December 2021. The ranking focused on the current condition and policies related to Green Campus and Sustainability in the Universities all over the world.

     Mae Fah Luang University has actively participated in this ranking since 2013. In comparison to 2020, MFU scored higher in five key indicators, including Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Water Management, Waste Management, and Education and Research. Particularly, this year, the University of Indonesia has added the indicators regarding policies toward green and sustainable environment during Covid-19 pandemic for example percentage of operation and maintenance activities of building, number of innovative programmes, percentage of additional handwashing and sanitation facilities as well as number of university programmes to cope with Covid-19 pandemic.

     This achievement reflects the efforts being made by Mae Fah Luang University to consistently implement environmentally friendly and sustainable policies in order to enhance the sustainable environment of Thailand and the world.

     UI GreenMetric World University Ranking was established by University of Indonesia in 2010 for the purpose of promoting awareness of sustainability in higher education institutions. The ranking was based on 39 indicators and six criteria: Setting and Infrastructure (15%); Energy and Climate Change (21%); Waste Management (18%); Water Management (10%); Transportation (18%); and Education and Research (18%).
