MFU Students Share Ideas in South-East Asia SDG Youth Dialogue: Enhance Youth Activism in Implementing 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development

     On 25 March 2022, two students from the International Development Programme, School of Social Innovation were invited to participate as youth panelists for Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD)’s South-East Asia SDG Youth Dialogue: Enhance Youth Activism in Implementing 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development via online platform.

     Mr. Methichai Thongpleo, a second-year student from the International Development Programme and Youth Volunteer, Department of Children and Youth: and Ms. Siriporn Ruadrew, a second-year student from the International Development Programme and the Executive Member, Mae Fah Luang University Model United Nations Club joined other youth panelists from the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam to discuss and exchange views with UN agencies and partners on finding practical ways to meet the current challenges affecting the South East Asia region.

     This dialogue was a side event of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development 2022 co-organized by the UN-ESCAP, the UN in Thailand, The Young SEAKers, Malaysia Chapter, The Good Leadership by ENGAGE and Together for Nepal. It brought together young people and leading experts to deliberate on the challenges and issues of SDGs in the Southeast Asia and promote partnerships between youth from the region to development partners.

     Altogether, the participation of MFU students in the South-East Asia SDG Youth Dialogue shows MFU’s efforts and determination in promoting awareness and understanding of SDGs among young people and policymakers. MFU always encourages students to actively engage in sharing new ideas and solutions for regional issues and finding novel ways to achieve sustainable, inclusive and stable societies.
