MFU Participates in the 2022 Thai Higher Education Promotion (Chengdu) and Sino - Thai Education Exchange Conference

     On 11 May 2022, Mae Fah Luang University’s representatives including Ms. Wannapha Thippayasak, Acting Head of Global Relations Division, Ms. Paneeya Kradumporn and Ms. Yu Liu lecturers of the School of Sinology participated in the 2022 Thai Higher Education Promotion (Chengdu) and Sino - Thai Education Exchange Conference via zoom meeting to present the university’s information and programmes offering for international students.

     This conference was hosted onsite at Chengdu Xiangyu Hotel by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu; the Science and Technology Section of the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation; the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government; co-hosted by Xihua University; and supported by Assumption University of Thailand and Pathumthani University. The purposes of the conference were to promote Thailand as the education destination for international students, to advance the exchanges and cooperation between Thailand and Chengdu as well as to establish a cooperation network of higher education institutions in Thailand and China.

     There were guests of honour including Ms. Tippawan Supamikitja, Consul-General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu; Ms. Pasupha Chinvarasopak, Minister Counselor of the Science and Technology Section of the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing; Mr. Ou Yusong, Respectable Deputy Director the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government; Prof. Lin Yifan, Director of Chengdu Municipal Education Bureau; Prof. Liu Shugen, President of Xihua University; and Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of Assumption University of Thailand. 

     Moreover, representatives from higher education institutions in Thailand, consisting of autonomous universities, public university, rajabhat universities, rajamangala universities of technology, and private universities were invited to participate in the conference by providing a university introduction video and documents/information for exhibiting at the booth for the participants who visit the booths at Chengdu Xiangyu Hotel. Participating Thai universities were Assumption University of Thailand, Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University, Chiang Mai University, Kasetsart University, Khon Kaen University, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Lampang Rajabhat University, Mae Fah Laung University, Maha Sarakham Rajabhat University, Mahidol University, National Institute of Development Administration, Pathumthani University, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi, Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, Rangsit University, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Surat Thani Rajabhat University, Southeast Asia University, and Udon Thani Rajabhat University.

     In addition, there a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony online between Assumption University of Thailand (AU) and Xihua University, China. Altogether, this conference was a good opportunity for MFU and Thai universities to publicize their universities and provide an up-to-date information and study programmes to Chinese students in Sichuan Province who are interested in pursuing a degree in Thailand.
