MFU Takes the Top Spot in THE Asia University Rankings 2022

Mae Fah Luang University retains top spot for the 3rd consecutive year in the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2022, released on 1 June 2022. Out of 616 universities from 31 territories (17 of which were Thai higher education institutions), Mae Fah Luang University was ranked joint 2nd in Thailand, joint 17th in ASEAN and ranked in 201-250 tier in Asia alongside Chulalongkorn University and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.

Out of five categories, MFU scored highly in the research citation and international outlook categories which were 63.3 and 53.0 respectively (the highest score in Thailand). The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2022 use the same 13 performance indicators across all universitiescore missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook as the THE World University Rankings, but the indicators are recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia’s institutions. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching 25% (the learning environment); Research 30% (volume, income and reputation); Citations 30% (research influence); International outlook 7.5% (staff, students and research); and Industry Income 7.5% (knowledge transfer).

To achieve our vision of becoming a leading university in ASEAN with international recognition, MFU will continue to maintain the university’s academic leadership status and make our institution become one of the top leading universities in ASEAN that serves society with high-quality research, teaching and internationalised activities.
