Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Joins Workshop on MFU’s University to Tambon (U2T) Project with Researchers and Communities

     On 21 June 2022, Dr.Danuch Tanterdtid, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and his team visited the University to Tambon (U2T) project in Thasud sub-district and participated in a workshop on ‘Lesson learned from U2T project, the fiscal year 2021, Chiang Rai province’ together with researchers, government officers, and local people.

     Asst. Prof. Dr.Panate Manomaivibool, Assistant to the President and Head of Thasud U2T project delivered a welcome address and presented a project implementation report of 15 sub-districts under MFU’s responsibility in the fiscal year 2021 or Phase 1. Dr.Manomaivibool stated that U2T is a great project that the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has initiated to help people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the project, MFU has not only hired people who are unemployed, new graduates or university students to work but also transferred knowledge and advanced skills to assist in developing sub-district economy based on the needs of each community.   

    During the workshop, there were presentations on roles of the municipality in cooperating with UST by Mrs. Ploenchit Sriburi, Deputy Mayor of the Thasud Subdistrict Municipality as well as an establishment of waste bank in the pilot village of Thasud subdistrict and the implementation of buying waste in village no. 9 by Mr. Suntorn Yuanta, headman of village no. 9. 

     Moreover, participants exchange ideas and share problems and challenges in the project implementation. Also, the Vice Minister gave suggestions and guidelines for project implementation in the fiscal year 2022 or Phase 2 which has been extended to 7,435 sub-districts across Thailand. Under Phase 2, MFU has been responsible for 27 sub-districts of Chiang Rai province. Then, the delegates visited households that are the model of waste separation and MFU campus.
