MFU Joins Hands with NRCT and IRPC to Develop the Dry-Process Separator for Lithium-Ion Batteries

     On 4 August 2022, Dr.Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT); Mr. Phayom Boonyoung, Executive Vice President of IRPC Public Company Limited; and Asst. Prof. Dr.Phanuphong Chaiwut, Director of Mae Fah Luang University Research and Innovation Institute signed the Research Funding Agreement for a research on “dry-process separator for lithium-ion batteries”. The agreement was signed on the Highlight Stage in the Thailand Research Expo 2022 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at Central World, Bangkok.

     This agreement aims to jointly conduct research and development activities in order to put research into practice to support industrial sector. The research on “dry-process separator for lithium-ion batteries” is expected to help develop quality products and services which will enhance Thailand’s competitiveness in the domestic and international market.

     Asst. Prof. Dr.Phanuphong Chaiwut, Director of Mae Fah Luang University Research and Innovation Institute stated that MFU has a policy of supporting and promoting research and innovation for commercial purposes in order to contribute to society’s sustainability and prosperity. MFU also promotes research cooperation with industrial sector which will be a part of driving the country’s economy with science, innovation and technology. In addition, Asst. Prof. Dr.Sitthi Duangphet, a lecturer of the School of Science is a research project manager of “dry-process separator for lithium-ion batteries”. 

     Altogether, this cooperation between MFU, NRCT and IRPC shows an effort to support research that solves industrial problems or creates new technologies, which enhance the country’s competition and lead to sustainability.
