On 15 September 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Luang University gave a keynote speech on “Bringing assessments into the digital age” in the EDUtech Thailand 2022 via online platform.
In her speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri stated that today’s students possess some of the most significant characteristics. They are always connected and like to access information anytime. They have ability to multi-task and be the intuitive learners. Therefore, it is the greatest challenge for educators to change the way they teach and facilitate in order to engage their students. Moreover, the university should implement comprehensive assessment system which allow lecturers to integrate different assessment methods to confirm specific learning has taken place, identify specific need, align the right supports, determine if interventions and intervention programs are effective and evaluate grade learning. In addition, MFU Learning Innovation Institute or MLII has transformed and modernised education with technology and innovation to make sure students receive a quality learning experience, a variety of learning technology and platforms as well as alternative assessment. In the next phase, MLII priorities on improving learning ecosystem for Hyflex learning environment, flexible education, comprehensive assessment, and interactive learning innovation. With innovative learning ecosystem, Mae Fah Luang University will be able to make a great impact to the society and ready for personalized learning, lifelong education and smart learning innovation.
Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nantana Gajaseni, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University shared her perspectives and experiences with Mr. Supakorn Komthong, Head of Learning Experience Design of Sasin School of Management, Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University in a panel discussion on “Reimagining the digital campus: Keeping the evolving needs of stakeholders in mind”. Assoc. Prof. Dr.Nantana Gajaseni shared that there were three aspects of the benefits of digital campus transformation to stakeholders including1. university to university level 2. people to people level and 3. technology to people level. The universities are able to keep collaborating with their partners through virtual platforms. Students can also connect to each other via online activities that help them learn to respect difference and understand global issues. Furthermore, digital technologies provide opportunity or accessibility for peopel to study any where and any time.
Furthermore, Asst. Prof. Dr. Charoenchai Wongwatkit, Deputy Director of MFU Learning Innovation Institute shared best practices of Mae Fah Luang University in the panel discussion on “Using technology to propel collaborative engagement and learning in a time of change” with Asst.Prof.Dr. Athitaya Nitchot, Lecturer at Prince of Songkla University International College; Assoc. Prof. Dr.Vara Varavithya, Dean of the Digital Technology Faculty of Chitralada Institute of Technology; Dr. Chailerd Pichitpornchai, M.D., Director at Institute for Innovative Learning, Mahidol University.
