MFU Retains Top Spot in ‘THE’ 2023 World University Rankings

     Mae Fah Luang University tops the ranking for the fourth consecutive year in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023. Out of 1,799 universities across 104 countries and regions, MFU was ranked in the 801-1000 tier alongside Chulalongkorn University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi and Mahidol University in the latest THE 2023 World University Rankings, released on 12 October 2022. 

     The overall score of MFU was 29.8-33.9. Specially, the University performed the strongest in Thailand in citations at 58.8 and international outlook at 47.0. The President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri stated that “This ranking reflects the competitive situation and impact of COVID-19 that have challenged universities in Thailand. We have to adapt ourselves to the new normal and meet the expectation of society in producing high quality works and playing vital roles in regional and international levels. Although Mae Fah Luang University is still the Young University, we have outstanding performance in citations and international outlook aspects. Moreover, the scores for teaching, research and industry income have increased from the last year. The higher scores indicate the strong effort and hard work of the university community in achieving our vision to become a leading university in asean with international recognition.”

     The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that judge research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching 30% (the learning environment); Research 30% (volume, income and reputation); Citations 30% (research influence); International outlook 7.5% (staff, students and research); and Industry Income 2.5% (knowledge transfer).
