On 19 April 2023, Associate Professor Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri, President of Mae Fah Luang University presided over the Honoring Ceremony for Professor and Adjunct Professor of Mae Fah Luang University held at the Riverie by Katathani.
During the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr.Chayaporn Wattanasiri congratulated and gave flower bouquets to Professor Dr.Surat Laphookhieo, lecturer of the School of Science who has been bestowed with the title of Professor in Organic Chemistry and Adjunct Professor Dr.Kevin David Hyde, lecturer of the School of Science and Director of the Center of Excellence in Fungal Research who has been bestowed with the title of Adjunct Professor in Microbiology.
Professor Dr.Surat Laphookhieo earned a Bachelor of Science (second-class honour) in Chemistry from Suratthani Rajabhat University, Thailand. He later earned a Doctor of Philosophy Program in Organic Chemistry from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand in 2005. After graduation, he served as a lecturer of the School of Science, Mae Fah Laung University. Moreover, Professor Dr.Surat Laphookhieo has been received various research grants such as Endeavour Research Fellowship from the Australian Government, the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), and the National Research Council of Thailand. He has published over 140 papers in Journal of Natural Products, Phytochemistry, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Planta Medica, Bioorganic Chemistry, etc. Furthermore, his publications have been cited over 2,000 times and has an h-index of 25.
Adjunct Professor Dr.Kevin David Hyde, an internationally renowned mycologist, obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Mycology from University of Portsmouth, the United Kingdom in 1987 and later completed a Doctor of Science in Tropical Mycology from University of Wales, the United Kingdom in 2001. Through his work, Adjunct Professor Dr.Kevin David Hyde has received numerous awards in the field of mycology and was bestowed the title of Professor Emeritus at Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Science, China in 2018. Additionally, he was named in Thomson Reuters’s list of Highly Cited Researcher in 2015, listed in the Clarivate Analytics’ Highly Cited Researchers (2016 – 2022) and named in the global list of the top 2% of scientists created by Stanford University (2021 - 2022). Adjunct Professor Dr.Kevin David Hyde has also published over 1,500 papers and 21 books in the field of mycology. His publications have been cited over 89,000 times and has an h-index of 139.
