Mae Fah Luang would like to congratulate students from the Hospitality Business Management programme, the School of Management who seized awards in the international chef competition “the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge 2023”. The students were supervised by Asst. Prof. Piyanart Junkrachang and Mr. Pasakorn Phukhwanphong, lecturers of the School of Management.

The 9th edition of the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge was held in conjunction with the THAIFEX - ANUGA ASIA 2023, the largest food and beverage trade show in Asia, which was co-organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce; Thai Chamber of Commerce; Koelnmesse and Thailand Chefs Association at the Impact Exhibition Center in Bangkok from 23 – 27 May 2023. The challenge's ultimate purposes were both to re-enforce the culinary skill and knowledge of Asian cuisines, as well as to introduce novel ingredients to create appetising plant-based Asian food. This year, over 700 professional and aspiring international chefs from eight countries competed in 19 different categories, including a new plant-based theme. A jury of over 20 judges approved by the World Association of Chefs' Societies (WACS) evaluated each dish's flavour and presentation.

The representatives of Mae Fah Luang University received awards as follows:
Two Silver Medals
- AEC Cuisine Culinary Challenge (Junior Chef): Mr. Nobphadon Miangmoen
- Asian Curry Challenge (Junior Chef): Ms. Piyaporn Thongjan
Two Bronze Medals
- AEC Cuisine Culinary Challenge (Junior Chef): Ms. Yanisa Tanomchan

- AEC Cuisine Culinary Challenge (Junior Chef): Mr. Peerapat Pannim

This global competition enabled MFU students to enhance culinary skills and broaden their experience in the preparation of ingredients, professionalism in the kitchen, artistic arrangement of the dish, and the actual taste of the food. These skills will indeed prepare students to be professionals in the food and beverage service industry in Thailand, Asia and the world.
