On 17 – 22 August 2023, Dr.Tharakorn Maneerat a lecturer of the School of Science and Asst. Prof. Dr.Thidarat Duangyod, a lecturer of the School of Integrative Medicine, on behalf of the Medicinal Plant Innovation Center of Mae Fah Luang University, joined the technical assistance project as the technical experts in Peru.
This technical assistance project was implemented under the Bilateral Technical and Scientific Cooperation Programme, Thailand – Peru (2021- 2023), organised by the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI), in coordination with National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA), and Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA).
The objective of the project was to provide an opportunity for producers’ organization in the district of Chazuta, San Martin province which has a high potential in medicinal plants to learn about the management, production techniques, processing and marketing of medicinal plants with commercial potential from the Medicinal Plant Innovation Center of Mae Fah Luang University experts.
MFU delegates visited the fields and bio-gardens in Chazuta district, San Martin province to meet Chazuta producers’ organization in order to strengthen the technical and scientific capacities of the organisation in aspects of the reforestation of forest areas; increasing knowledge of the medicinal and therapeutic properties of local plants, and improving production techniques for products derived from medicinal plants that increase its commercial value. Additionally, MFU delegates exchanged their views and best practices with Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation and National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs during the workshop on sharing experiences: Reflections, Conclusions and Commitments derived from the technical visit at the DEVIDA’s office.
Moreover, MFU delegation was warmly welcomed by the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima led by H.E. Mr. Pisanu Sobhon, Ambassador the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Peru.
