On 24 - 25 September 2023, Mae Fah Luang University was filled with happiness and pride for the celebration of its twenty-fifth anniversary. Since 1998, MFU, widely recognised as one of Thailand’s premier educational institutions, has been serving both Thailand and the ASEAN community with increasing achievements.
MFU’s celebration consisted of a series of exciting and meaningful events such as religious ceremony, meet the public event, scholarship awards ceremony, university benefactor award, the International Symposium on “Advancing the Global Health Agenda: Transformation of Hiogher Education of Higher Education towards Regional Well-being”, dinner reception, a ceremony to pay homage to the royal statue of HRH Princess Srinagarindra, and a parade of the flags of 45 countries representing the international students studying at MFU.
With respect to the great friendship between Mae Fah Luang University and foreign organisations, MFU welcomed 40 honoured guests from 24 Embassies, Consulates, partner universities, and organisations from 17 countries. Furthermore, H.E. Mr. Kinzang Dorji, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the Kingdom of Thailand presented a royal gift from His Majesty His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan to the Chairman of the University Council on the occasion of the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of Mae Fah Luang University.
Additionally, there were congratulatory speeches from the Ambassadors, representatives of the embassies, Chiang Rai governor, and the Caretaker Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs and Culture of Balochistan, Pakistan delivered on the stage during the celebration ceremony.
In the 25th anniversary address, Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Laung University remarked that from the founding date until today, Mae Fah Luang University has been flourishing consistently on once a bare piece of devastated land in Chiang Rai. At present, MFU has over 2,600 staff and over 15,500 students from all provinces of Thailand and from foreign countries worldwide.
Mae Fah Luang University has a strong determination to be a "University of Opportunities”, offering good higher educational opportunities as well as an excellent learning environment to students who are capable and want to study. At the same time, the university also commits to producing quality graduates with a good sense of morality, making them major forces of peace building in society. In addition, all operations are guided by the solid master plan, covering systematic designs for all physical and academic developments. The university considers education a major component in developing cooperative relation with foreign countries, especially the neighbouring ones. The university has a strong belief that, throughout educational cooperation, the countries in the region can grow together sustainably and peacefully.
The remarkable achievement of the university is resulted from the ability to envision the future along with cooperation and efforts of the whole university community, the governmental and private, national and international organisations.
Altogether, Mae Fah Luang University will continue to grow firmly towards the next milestone with a strong determination to become a leading higher educational institute of Thailand with international recognition. MFU’s main missions are to develop excellence in knowledge and to produce quality human resources with competitive potential and the ability to create happiness for the entire society under disruption.
