A Visit of Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Thailand

     On 1 December 2023, the delegation of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Bangkok led by H.E. Mr. Han Zhiqiang, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand and the delegation of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Chiang Mai led by Mr. Chen Haiping, Consul General paid a courtesy visit on Adj. Prof. Dr.Vanchai Sirichana, Chairman of Mae Fah Luang University Council; Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Laung University; and MFU executives at Vanchai Sirichana Building (AD1).

     Since an establishment of the university, Mae Fah Luang University and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China have a long-standing and faithful relations through several official courtesy visits, numerous academic and cultural activities, as well as the establishment of the Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center and the Confucius Institute at MFU. 

     As the School of Sinology, MFU has been nationally recognised for offering high-quality Chinese language education, the university would like to cooperate with the Embassy and Xiamen University in organising a training programme for Chinese language teachers in order to support the growing demand for Chinese language teachers in Thailand. Moreover, the two institutions agreed to extend collaboration in other areas such as information technology, economics, and medical education (both modern and traditional medicine). 

     Furthermore, H.E. Mr. Han Zhiqiang had a meeting with Chinese students who are studying at MFU and Thai students from the School of Sinology, the School of Law, and the School of Integrative Medicine who are studying Chinese language. The Ambassador also gave the books entitled ‘Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Volume 2’ to students.

     Then, the delegation visited the Sirindhorn Chinese Language and Culture Center and the Confucius Institute to meet Chinese volunteer teachers and explore a history of China-MFU relations as well as the university’s effort in promoting the teaching of Chinese language and cultural exchanges.
