A Meeting with the Consul of India in Chiang Mai for Strengthening Cooperation

On 26 March 2024, Dr. Nichan Singhaputargun, Acting Head of the Global Relations Division led the Global Relations Division staff members to warmly welcome and meet Mr. Krishna Chaitanya, Consul of India and Mr. Ramji Ramaswamy, Vice Consul in Chiang Mai at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort.

The purposes of this visit was to discuss future collaboration between Mae Fah Luang University and India. The Consul of India and MFU discussed potential areas for cooperation including research matching and visiting scholar programme between Mae Fah Luang University and higher education institutions in India. MFU is very pleased to welcome exchange students or researchers from India to conduct joint research in the fields of information technology, health science, science, and linguistics. The university is also seeking professors from India to give lectures and share their research with MFU faculty members and students.

In addition, the Consulate India in Chiang Mai and Mae Fah Luang University are planning to organise academic and cultural activities at MFU to disseminate knowledge about various aspects of Indian traditions, languages, arts, and culture as well as provide information about educational opportunities to study in India.

Altogether, the two sides agreed to encourage closer people-to-people contact and mutual understanding, through promoting education and research cooperation as well as diverse cultural exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.
