THE Young University Rankings 2024 are based on the same 18 performance indicators as THE World University Rankings to assess research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. However, the weightings are recalibrated to reflect the profile of missions of young universities. The rankings include institutions that were founded between 1974 and the present. The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching 29.5% (the learning environment); Research Environment 29% (volume, income and reputation); Research Quality 30% (citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence); International outlook 7.5% (staff, students and research); and Industry Income 4% (income and patents).

MFU's remarkable achievement reflects its dedication to developing high-quality research, fostering international student and researcher exchange programmes, supporting researchers in publishing in leading academic journals, and building collaborations with public and private sectors. MFU remains committed to collaborating across sectors to drive Thai education forward. This includes supporting technology transfer and innovation to the private sector in order to ultimately generate economic, social, and cultural value for the country, aligning with its vision: "A Leading University in ASEAN with International Recognition Strives for Well-being and Sustainable Future."
