On 12 June 2024, the Global Relations Division, MFU international students, and SEM (Spirit in Education Movement) co-organised the Myanmar Film Tour 2024 at M for U Centre, M-Square Building. This event aimed to commemorate the World Refugee Day 2024 by screening the movie 'A Broken Dream'.

'A Broken Dream' is an anthology film comprising nine short films that depict the impacts of the 2021 military coup in Myanmar. Participants gained diverse perspectives, developing understanding and awareness of the ongoing violence in Myanmar, and the plight of Myanmar refugees in Thailand.

The opening session featured remarks by Dr.Nichan Singhaputargun, Acting Head of the Global Relations Division. Also, Mr. Suebsakun Kidnukorn, a lecturer from the School of Social Innovation provided information about the migrant worker assistance center in Chiang Rai province and updates on the situation of people affected by the war.

World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honour refugees worldwide. It falls each year on 20 June and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. World Refugee Day highlights refugee rights, needs and dreams, mobilising resources to help refugees not only survive but thrive.

MFU students from various Schools participated, offering words of encouragement to displaced people: "Stay united, encourage each other, remain strong - there is a way out of every problem. Encourage yourselves and one another." They expressed hope that activities like the film screening would raise awareness of the situation in Myanmar.

At the event, students served Lahpet (fermented tea leaves), a symbol of peace in Myanmar, with various condiments like fried garlic, beans, dried shrimp, ginger, and roasted coconut - similar to the Thai mieng kham but using tea leaves. Myanmar milk tea was also provided, aiming to evoke memories of home and alleviate homesickness through familiar tastes.
