On 1 September 2024, Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University led a team of executives, staff, and students to provide  support and  essential supplies to flood-affected residents in Thoeng district. The flooding situation in Thoeng district has caused severe damage to properties, agricultural crops, fisheries, roads, and public facilities, making life difficulties for the local people.

The Mae Fah Luang University executive team delivered sets of necessary items, including kitchen tools and beddings, to the flood victims. Mr. Warayut Komboon, the Thoeng District Chief, led the mayor, headman, community leaders, and residents of Ngao Subdistrict in receiving the aid kits.

Additionally, Dr. Suebsakun Kidnukorn led a group of over 40 students from the School of Social Innovation and the International Student Club, along with 25 Myanmar volunteers from the migrant worker assistance center and volunteers from the Mirror Foundation, to assist in cleaning houses in Wiang Tai village, Wiang subdistrict, after the flood. This field assistance not only demonstrates the students' concern for society but also provides an opportunity to learn about volunteer work. The collaboration between students, migrant workers, and non-profit organisations represents a united effort from all sectors to address social issues.

This assistance to disaster victims is not just about providing labour support but also about offering encouragement and hope to those affected by the flood. It demonstrates the strength and unity of the community during times of crisis. The volunteer work will continue until the flood situation returns to normal.

As a university located in Chiang Rai province, Mae Fah Luang University is committed to fulfilling its social responsibility by alleviating the suffering of people affected by natural disasters.
