MFU Commits to Advancing SDGs with 59 Thai Universities

On 13 November 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Darunee Wattanasiriwech, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University, attended the Signing Ceremony of the Statement of Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok.

The signing ceremony, held by the Sustainable University Network Thailand (SUN Thailand) and the Council of University Presidents of Thailand, brought together representatives from 59 higher educational institutions under the SUN Thailand to sign the statement of commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This aligns with policies set by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The signing ceremony reflects the collective intention and determination of all member institutions to take a leading role in fostering human capital capable of advancing sustainable economic, social, and environmental development in Thailand.

Also, the event was attended by Prof. Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation; Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand;    Prof. Dr. Pongrak Sribanditmongkol, Chairperson of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and President of Chiang Mai University; Asst. Prof. Dr. Kritchai Sriboonma, Chairperson of the Sustainable University Network Thailand, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Global Compact Network Thailand, and university-level Model UN clubs.
