Mae Fah Luang University was ranked 161st globally and ranked 5th in Thailand in the THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings 2025 (ISR 2025), released on 21 November 2024. The ISR 2025 included 749 universities from 92 countries/territories, out of which 16 Thai universities participated.
Launched in association with Schmidt Science Fellows, the Interdisciplinary Science Ranking is the first effort of its kind to measure universities’ contributions and commitment to interdisciplinary science (the combination of different scientific disciplines to tackle some of the world's most pressing issues). The ranking includes 11 carefully calibrated performance indicators to assess institutions across three key areas, each representing a stage in the life cycle of research projects:
1) Inputs 19%: interdisciplinary science research funding and industry funding
2) Process 16%: measures of success, physical facilities, administrative support and promotion process
3) Outputs 65%: number and proportion of interdisciplinary science research publications, utility outside of discipline, quality of research, and reputation.
This achievement reflects Mae Fah Luang University's commitment to promoting interdisciplinary research, integrating knowledge and expertise from various fields to conduct research projects and create innovations leading to scientific discoveries and solutions to today’s challenges.
