MFU at Global Stage: Dean of the School of Integrative Medicine Shares Insights on Acupuncture at World Conference

On 3 – 4 December 2024, Sulukkana Noiprasert, MD., Dean of the School of Integrative Medicine, was invited to participate in the plenary session on “High Quality Acupuncture Evidence: Consensus and Challenges” at the 2024 World Conference on Traditional Medicine in Beijing, China. 

This conference was co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the National Health Commission of China, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NATCM), and the Beijing Municipal Government. With a theme of ‘Diversity, Inheritance and Innovation: Traditional Medicine for All’, the event served as an opportunity to improve global access to traditional and complementary medicine and its integration into healthcare systems worldwide.

The two-day event attracted over 3,000 attendees, including governmental health leaders, Nobel laureates, health workers, researchers, and public health officials, from 85 countries and regions, to discuss the latest research results of traditional medicine and share practical experience. It featured a series of panel discussions and sessions covering diverse topics such as evidence-based traditional medicine, advanced technologies, AI applications in traditional medicine research, and the standardization and safety of herbal medicines. Keynote speakers addressed critical issues related to regulation, integrative medicine, and the role of traditional medicine in primary healthcare.
