MFU's Tea and Coffee Institute Drives Thai Tea Innovation to Global Stage

Congratulations to Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyaporn Chueamchaitrakun, Head of the Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University, for receiving the 2025 CHAllenge Award by the World Green Tea Association, Japan. This award recognizes her outstanding contributions in ‘Empowering Tea Communities in Thailand,’ reflecting the significant success of expanding research and innovation into community development and promoting the tea business in Thailand. 

Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyaporn Chueamchaitrakun’s work has strengthened tea farming communities, enhanced product quality to meet international standards, and increased competitiveness in the global market.

The CHAllenge Award is part of the World Green Tea Association’s O-CHA Pioneer Awards, presented to individuals and groups for their contribution to initiatives that will drive the future of tea. 

The Tea and Coffee Institute of Mae Fah Luang University has been accredited with the Thai Industrial Standard (TIS 2677) and is progressing towards achieving the ISO 17025 international standard. This ensures the highest quality and builds trust in Thai tea products. The Institute aims to be a center of excellence for research and development in tea and coffee in the region, contributing to the sustainable growth of the Thai tea industry. This aligns with the university’s vision to advance knowledge, innovation, and contribute to societal and economic development, while elevating Thai tea to the international stage.
