MFU and EEC Office Conclude English and Chinese Language Development for High School Students

On 30 May 2025, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), in collaboration with the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office, hosted the closing ceremony for the project “English and Chinese Language Skills Development of High School Students in EEC Area through Promotional Video Creation for Local Tourism Promotion” at Amari Pattaya, Chonburi Province.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of Mae Fah Luang University, presided over the ceremony. She congratulated the participants, highlighting how the year-long project focused on enhancing English and Chinese language skills, alongside developing communication abilities through video media. The initiative aimed to promote integrated learning that reflects the unique identity and potential of communities within the EEC area.

This project not only improved the foreign language proficiency of young learners but also served as a platform to cultivate students’ creativity in using digital media. It encouraged them to express local identity while connecting their stories to a global context. Mae Fah Luang University extends its sincere appreciation to the EEC Office and all collaborating sectors for their efforts in advancing education and empowering youth in the special economic zone toward sustainable growth.

A highlight of the closing ceremony was the announcement of the winners of the promotional video contest, featuring entries from schools in the region: 

English category:

  • Winner:  Benchamaracharungsarit 2 School 
  • Second Place: Pluakdaengpittayakom School, Srinagarindra the Princess Mother School Rayong, and Phothisamphanphitthayakhan School

Chinese category:

  • Winner:  Rayongwittayakom School
  • Second Place: Chonkanyanukoon School, Datdaruni School, and Banbung Uttasahakamnukhro School 

Popular Vote Category:

  • English: Benchamaracharungsarit 2 School 
  • Chinese: Benchamaracharungsarit 2 School

This project reflects MFU’s determination to utilise its strengths in English and Chinese language proficiency to support human resource development. By enhancing the language skills of teachers and students in the EEC area, the university aims to groom them to be ‘Smart Teachers’ and ‘Smart Local Leaders.’

Mae Fah Luang University has extensive experience and expertise in skill development for teachers, having initiated such programmes in Chiang Rai province since 2006. The university has significantly contributed to advancing the quality of education in Chiang Rai through integrated curriculum and activities for enhancing teaching skill, developing modern and instructional media, improving English and Chinese content, training digital and technological skills, and establishing a knowledge-sharing provincial network.
