On 31 August 2025, the Myanmar Students’ Organization (MSO-MFU) successfully hosted the “Myanmar Students’ Fresher Welcome 2025” at Pradoo Daeng 2 Room, E4 Building, Mae Fah Luang University.
With the theme “Retro Revival: Back to the 1970s,” the event was a vibrant celebration blending tradition, fashion, culture, and entertainment. It highlighted Myanmar fashion and literature from the 1970s, reflecting the timeless saying: “Civilized people always dress and live with dignity.”
The Fresher Welcome featured a range of activities, including traditional and retro fashion showcases, literature and poetry readings, and a “Best Fashion Award” to recognise creativity and style. A highlight of the programme was the “Khin Khin Pyo & Ko Ko Maung Selection”, in which winners were chosen based on 70% student votes and 30% judges’ scores. The titles were awarded to Ms. Nan Wine Su Khing Thein, a first-year student from the School of Social Innovation, and Mr. Sai Bhone Htet, a first-year student from the School of Applied Digital Technology. The programme also included interactive games, food booths, love-themed tarot reading, and souvenir stalls selling fragrances, which provided opportunities for student entrepreneurs to run their own booths. This gave students hands-on experience in creativity and business while enriching the celebration.
Mr. Saw San Nyunt Win, a fourth-year student from the School of Applied Digital Technology and President of the Myanmar Students' Organization at MFU, shared that the Fresher Welcome event is more than just a celebration; it represents the unity, togetherness, and strength of Myanmar students at Mae Fah Luang University.
Beyond entertainment, the Fresher Welcome served as a valuable platform for new students to meet Myanmar lecturers, receive guidance, and strengthen friendships with fellow Myanmar students. The Myanmar Students’ Organization of MFU emphasized that the event was not just a welcome celebration, but also a way to promote unity, preserve cultural heritage, and inspire pride among Myanmar students as they begin their academic journey at Mae Fah Luang University.
