On 29 September 2025, the Asian Research Center for International Development (ARCID) of the School of Social Innovation, hosted a public seminar on “Conflict to Dispute and War: Analyzing Cambodia-Thailand Border Polarization Towards Pathways to Peaceful Coexistence through the Lenses of Peace Studies and International Law” at the General Sampao Choosri Building (E4).

The seminar aimed to explore the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, focusing on its historical roots, dynamics, and future possibilities. It utilised perspectives from Peace and Conflict Studies and International Law to highlight avenues for sustainable coexistence and peace.

The event featured two distinguished speakers: Dr.Nichan Singhaputargun from the School of Social Innovation, who presented from the perspective of Peace Studies, analyzing the root causes and dynamics of the conflict; and Mr. Phetnapat Srivuddhiyaprabha from the School of Law, who examined the issue through International Law, focusing on the role of treaties and the International Court of Justice. The session was moderated by Dr.Anuthep Sooksriwong from the School of Law.

Participants—including students, researchers, academics, and policymakers—had the opportunity to exchange views on the border dispute from multiple dimensions: historical, political, legal, and peace studies. The seminar also provided a platform for exploring sustainable peacebuilding approaches, generating active discussions and a fruitful exchange of ideas.

Key outcomes of the seminar included a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the conflict, the identification of new pathways for peaceful coexistence, and strengthened academic networks between the School of Social Innovation and the School of Law at MFU. This marks an important step toward advancing future research and academic collaboration.
