A Visit from the Project on Support for Capacity Building of the Greater Mekong Sub-region University Consortium

      On 18 January 2019, Mae Fah Luang University welcomed Centre Director of the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development, Dr. Chantavit Sujatanond and the delegates from ASEAN Secretariat, SEAMEO Secretariat and the national governments from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam as well as the core experts for the Project on Support for Capacity Building of the Greater Mekong Sub-region University Consortium (GMS-UC).

      During the university visit, MFU President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vanchai Sirichana shared the history of the university foundation, experiences on university’s strategy, advancement in teaching and research as well as internationalisation with the participants.

      The GMS-UC project was operated by SEAMEO RIHED in cooperation with ASEAN Secretariat under the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) Framework to enhance capacities of selected universities of the GMS-UC in areas of management and leadership, teaching, research, internationalisation and cross-border education. Having an aim to be a leading university in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, MFU executives has actively engaged in various activities of the project. Moreover, MFU Vice President Assist. Prof. Dr. Romyen Kosaikanont has been invited to participate in the project as one of the regional professional experts for developing the operating guidelines for the GMS-UC.
