On 25 October 2025, Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn, President of the University, together with executives, faculty members, Thai and international students, held a candlelight ceremony to express their profound remembrance and gratitude for the boundless benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, following the announcement of Her Majesty’s passing by the Bureau of the Royal Household on 24 October 2025.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Matchima Naradisorn delivered a heartfelt tribute, stating that everyone gathered in profound sorrow upon hearing the news of Her Majesty’s passing. Her Majesty was the beloved Queen and cherished mother of all Thai people. Throughout her life, Her Majesty dedicated herself tirelessly to the betterment of her people, devoting her every effort so that all may live in happiness and well-being. Her infinite kindness and compassion will forever be remembered.
The MFU President further added, “We humbly pledge to uphold Her Majesty’s teachings and continue her royal aspirations in our daily lives to contribute to the nation’s prosperity — as a tribute of gratitude and in remembrance of ‘the Mother of the Nation,’ who will forever remain in our hearts. May Her Majesty’s grace guide her soul to eternal peace in heaven.”
In addition, Mae Fah Luang University has issued guidelines for the mourning period in accordance with the announcement of the Prime Minister’s Office, dated 25 October 2025. The measures include:
• Wearing mourning attire for one year, starting from Saturday, 25 October 2025;
• Flying the national flag at half-mast for 30 days; and
• Adjusting media and public communications to adopt a more subdued and respectful tone during this period.
