On 21 October 2025, a delegation from the Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Bangkok including H.E. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to Thailand, and Mr. Md Samaun Khalid, First Secretary, paid a courtesy visit to Mae Fah Luang University executives to discuss potential cooperation.
Asst. Prof. Dr.Matchima Naradisorn, MFU President; Asst. Prof. Dr.Romyen Kosaikanont, Vice President; and Dr. Nichan Singhaputargun Acting Head of Global Relations Division welcomed the delegation.
The two parties explored possible areas for cooperation in academic collaboration, as well as student and staff exchanges. The Embassy suggested MFU cooperate with the University of Chittagong in Tourism and Hospitality, Agro-Industry, and Applied Digital Technology, particularly for human resource development and training in tourism and hospitality to enhance the well-being of the people in Bangladesh.
Recognising Bangladesh’s demonstrated best practices in reducing disaster risk and loss affected by natural disasters, including floods and cyclones, the Embassy also offered to connect MFU with BRAC University for cooperation in disaster management to improve the efficiency of disaster management in Chiang Rai. The discussion also focused on the possibility of establishing a Yunus Center for promoting research and academic services related to poverty eradication, promoting Chiang Rai as the medical tourism destination for Bangladesh tourists, and organising special lectures.
Ambassador H.E. Faiyaz Murshid Kazi also met with a Bangladeshi student who is studying at Mae Fah Luang University, offering encouragement and listening to the student’s perspectives on academic and student life in Thailand.
This visit has not only strengthened ties between MFU and the People's Republic of Bangladesh but also furthered future cooperation in education and research, aligning with the university’s policy of continuously strengthening international relations.
