The School of Liberal Art at Mae Fah Luang University (MFU), in partnership with Thai Association for Applied Linguistics (TAAL), successfully hosted the 2nd International Conference of the Thai Association for Applied Linguistics on 14 - 15 November 2025 at Mae Fah Luang University.

The central theme of TALL 20525, “Landscape of Applied Linguistic Research: Shaping GloCal Impacts”, underscored a commitment to bridging global perspectives with local contexts. This focus aimed to create meaningful connections between theoretical insights and practical applications that address the need of the diverse communities.

The event brought together scholars, researchers, and students from around the world to explore how linguistic research informs real-world challenges, ranging from multilingual communications and language policy to AI-mediated learning. Furthermore, it provided a valuable forum for graduate students and researchers in applied linguistics to present their papers and engage in impactful knowledge exchange.

Featuring distinguished keynote addresses, dynamic parallel sessions, featured talks, as well as numerous paper presentations, the comprehensive programme fostered innovative thinking, strengthened international and interdisciplinary collaboration, and inspired impactful research that resonate across local and global boundaries.

Keynote speeches were delivered by leading international experts:
•    Prof. Kevin W. H. Tai, the University of Hong Kong: "Unlocking the Affordance of Translanguaging Spaces: Empowering Students to Overcome Foreign Language Anxiety and Enhancing Students’ Language Lerning Motivation"
•    Dr.Shirley N. Dita, De La Salle University: "Grammatical Innovations in Philippine English: Patterns and Perspectives"

Another highlight of the conference was the ASEAN Forum titled "Researching Applied Linguistics in ASEAN: Methods, Challenges, and Contexts.” This session engaged five researchers working across ASEAN to critically reflect on methodological practices, challenges, and adaptations in applied linguistics research within diverse regional contexts.
Paper presentations covered a broad spectrum of applied linguistics topics such as Corpus Linguistics, Discourse Analysis/ Critical Discourse Analysis, English-Medium Instruction, Literature, Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics, Technology in Applied Linguistics, and Translanguaging.

The success of the TAAL International Conference 2025 reflects Mae Fah Luang University’s commitment to serving as a hub for global academic exchange and for advancing research that generates meaningful impact at both the local and global levels, fulfilling the GloCal concept.
