The University of Opportunity: MFU Appoints Its First Visually Impaired University Staff Member

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) has reinforced its commitment to equal access to education and employment with a landmark appointment. Effective 11 November 2025, MFU welcomed Ms. Sawanya Seema as an Administrative Officer for the Disability Support Services (DSS) under the Student Development Affairs Division. 

Ms. Sawanya Seema becomes the university’s first officially appointed visually impaired staff member, marking a significant step in MFU’s dedication to building a genuinely inclusive campus environment.

Ms. Sawanya is an accomplished MFU graduate of the Business Chinese programme in the School of Sinology. Her outstanding abilities gained national recognition when she won a prestigious Royal Trophy in the 28th Braille Reading and Writing Competition (Chinese Language). This award was graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on May 23, 2024, at Sra Pathum Palace, Bangkok.

MFU recognises that creating meaningful employment opportunities for persons with disabilities is vital to building a more inclusive, equitable, and supportive society.

This pioneering appointment not only reaffirms MFU’s leadership in advocating for the rights and career opportunities of all people but also empowers Ms. Sawanya to grow in fields aligned with her strengths. Her achievement stands as a powerful source of inspiration for other persons with disabilities, encouraging them to pursue their education and careers with confidence.

MFU firmly believes that with determination, demonstrated ability, and the right opportunity, everyone, regardless of physical challenges, can achieve success in their chosen career paths.
