Internationalisation Observation to Enhance Service Quality

    On 7 March 20119, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University, Assist. Prof. Dr. Romyen Kosaiknont and staff from the International Affairs Division (IAD) visited the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Immigration Division 1 of the Immigration Bureau and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Bangkok.

  The main objective of the visit was to update the information on visa and immigration rules and regulations for international students and lecturers as well as observe the internationalization activities of KMUTT.  

   At the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MFU delegates were warmly welcomed by Director of the Visa and Travel Documents Division, Mr. Donnawat Poolsawat. There was a lecture presenting the Visa and Travel Documents Division’s mission, types of visas, periods of stay, requirements as well as a discussion on a better system facilitating the visa process for MFU international students, lecturers, speakers and visiting scholars.

   Furthermore, the chief of Immigration Division 1, Pol. Maj. Gen. Patipat Subun na Ayutthaya and officers warmly welcomed and informed MFU delegates about immigration regulations and requirements for the 90-day report, residence notification and visa extension.

  The IAD staff also observed and exchanged best practices on international strategy and the administration system for international students with Vice President for Internationalization of KMUTT, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornapit Darasawang and staff from the International Affairs and the Admissions and Recruitment Office.

   Finally, this was a valuable chance for MFU staff to learn and apply good practices for the internationalization strategic plan as well as gain a better understanding of visa and immigration rules and requirements in order to improve the quality and efficiency of student services.
